Jan and Feb this year should be the best times for observing Mars this year - who's been out observing???

I've had a couple of tries at it over the last month, but seeing has been poor every time and Mars was just an orange blob.

Last night was the first night of good (not great) seeing I've had in eons. I had my 18" F/4.5 Dob out and at 300X, Mars looked great!!! I put on my Orion Mars filter and it helped cut a lot of the glare. The North Polar cap was very obvious and Syrtis Major looked great!!!Hellas basin was even easy to see during moments of steady seeing. W00t!!! Looking forward to more in the coming weeks!!!

Earlier in the night I _FINALLY_ had success in finding the G1 Globular cluster in the Andromeda Galaxy. I had tried before but last night was the first time I've had a proper scaled chart.

Even though it was around 15Degrees F, last night was the best night of observing I've had in a long time!!!
